About Alongside

Equipping the builders of the Christian economy.

Alongside is a growing coalition of Christian businesses, craftsmen, and households—all aimed at faithfully building the Christian economy. Shoulder to shoulder. Stone by stone.

Our Mission

Alongside exists to equip households, businesses, and craftsmen to build the Christian economy, shoulder to shoulder. Our aim is to recover the Christian pursuit of excellence (truth, beauty, and goodness)—in every corner of Christendom—continuing a legacy of hard work once forgotten, and leaving an inheritance to our children's children.

Our Vision

To build a platform that unites the men who build Christendom. We envision a high-trust network of households, businesses, and craftsmen working alongside one another, rooted in the local parish, accountable to each other, and building a legacy worth inheriting.

Pillars

Christian Coalition

Shoulder to shoulder for the Kingdom—we hold our confessions while preferring Christ's people across them, in the contracts we sign and the dollars we spend.

Leaving an Inheritance

A man's work does not end with his own hand. Skill, trade, and a good name are passed down—from father to son, master to apprentice, generation to generation.

Localism First

Christians must have rightly ordered loves, flowing out from our families, churches, boroughs, states—in that order, and only then to our nation.

Household Economy

Business is an outgrowth of family life, not a separate world with its own rules. We extend the household into work—caring for employees as souls under our charge.

Male Rule & Headship

God has ordained men to rule in the home, in the church, and in society. Because business extends the household, it also belongs under male headship, with women laboring fruitfully from and for the home.

Honoring the Sabbath

The Lord's Day is not a productivity opportunity. We close the shop in trust—God can do more with our six days of labor than we could wring from seven.

Advisor

Mikie is a Christian, husband, architect, and father of four. He is a founder of SteadCraft Architects and Builders and occasionally goes full nerd on the Anything But Architecture podcast. He enjoys hand quarrying, hand cutting, and hand stacking stone, as well as hand hewing timber and hand drafting. Mikie argues that there is as much to learn by working with our hands in the materials God baked into creation, and believes that as Christians, we have a duty to recover craftsmanship, quality, and beauty so that we may build together across Christian traditions.
